Known as an outspoken voice in conscious hip-hop, whose mantra is “peace, love and positivity”, Logic is now the subject of a lyrical appeal from one of his own fans, to put those words into action in a new way: by keeping animals off of his plate and joining the “vegan revolution”, or the V-GANG as Will.i.am describes it.
The song “Dear Logic” by Toronto rapper Gaia’s Eye (who recently went viral for calling out fellow Torontonian Drake for his support of dog fur fashion) uses multiple personal angles to make the case that Logic is already a vegan at heart (Logic is a well-known animal lover frequently posting selfies with his dog Stoney, and has used his fame to advocate for #AdoptDontShop to reduce dog and cat homelessness and executions due to lack of shelter space). It references one of Logic’s biggest influences, founder of the Wu Tang Clan, and outspoken vegan RZA, as well as the rapper’s obsessions with Seinfeld, Rick and Morty, and even integrates samples from two different Logic songs to allow the rapper to make the case to himself.
While the song might seem critical at times, Gaia’s Eye explicitly clarifies that it is simply a respectful appeal to Logic’s conscience, even poking fun at hip-hop’s laughingstock of last summer with the lines “Now I ain’t trying to diss ya then get dunked on – NBA/ This is not a Kamikaze mission – MGK”…
